Cashan making waves with debut album
Jamaican reggae artiste Cashan is celebrating a major career breakthrough after her debut album, ‘Here Comes Cashan’, climbed the Apple iTunes Jamaica Reggae Albums Chart and the Apple Music Jamaica Top Reggae Albums Chart, signalling growing support both locally and internationally.
The 13-track project reached No. 3 and No. 7 on the respective charts. Adding to the momentum, her Richie Spice collaboration, Roaring Lion, has surpassed 800,000 YouTube views, making it one of the album’s standout tracks.
“Watching Roaring Lion surpass 800,000 views on YouTube has been one of the biggest moments of my career,” Cashan said. “The response has been overwhelming and proves that authentic reggae music continues to resonate with audiences worldwide.”
“Sharing this song with Richie Spice, someone I’ve admired for years, made the experience even more special. It has inspired me to keep creating music that uplifts people and represents Jamaica with pride,” she added.
The album also features Changes, a socially conscious collaboration with Yaksta that examines many of today’s challenges while delivering a message of resilience and hope. She said it was one of her favourite songs on the album.
“It reflects what so many people are experiencing today,” she said. “Having Yaksta on the track brought another level of fire and authenticity. I’m grateful for the support the album has received, and I can’t wait for more people around the world to hear it.”
Cashan describes the album as a modern roots-reggae project that honours the genre’s traditions while bringing a fresh perspective.
“This isn’t just another reggae album,” she said. “It’s the voice of a new generation of roots reggae, where rebel spirit, Jamaican culture and modern street energy come together. I stayed true to reggae’s foundation while bringing my own perspective and sound.”
The project reflects Cashan’s ambition to blend established talent with a new generation of reggae voices.
“Every collaboration came together naturally and I believe we’ve created music that people will enjoy for years,” she said.
Here Comes Cashan marks another milestone for the rising singer, who has set her sights on great things.
“Winning a Grammy is one of my goals, but it’s about more than awards,” Cashan said. “I want to become one of the leading voices in modern reggae, represent Jamaica with pride, tour the world and create music that stands the test of time.”
