Dancehall artiste Mr Vegas described his attendance and performance at the swearing-in ceremony for Dr Andrew Holness as prime minister of Jamaica as "100 per cent the greatest moment" of his career.

Mr Vegas, who closed the cultural programme with his timeless anthem I Am Blessed, said he has been a supporter of Holness since 2016. The entertainer, who campaigned to help the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) secure a third consecutive term in office, said being at Tuesday's ceremony was deeply personal.

"If my mom [and dad were] alive, this would have been the proudest moment of their lives," he reflected.

"And I'm so happy that I am blessed to be able to do this for my family, for the country, for everyone who loves and appreciates music and appreciate our country."

He also used the occasion to thank his fans, encouraging them to continue supporting his music, while noting the release of his latest album, Ghetto Reggae.

"We had to be here tonight to see this great moment, this historic moment," he said.

The swearing-in ceremony for Holness was not just a stately event, but also a night where music, memory, and mass sentiment collided.

Amid the pomp and tradition, it was the performances on Tuesday that stirred the crowd and offered a soundtrack to history. Among the headliners was Nesbeth, who performed his 2015 hit My Dream, a track already etched in political lore. The song was adopted as the theme for Holness' campaign in 2016 and featured prominently during his earlier swearing-in ceremony. Its return this year served as both a nostalgic reminder and a symbolic statement, linking Holness' political journey with the aspirations expressed in Nesbeth's anthem.

Agent Sasco followed with Banks of the Hope, his commanding presence matched by lyrics that spoke to strength and perseverance. Guests leaned in as his voice carried across the sprawling lawn of King's House, the performance anchoring the evening in a message of resilience.

Christopher Martin then lifted the mood with I'm a Big Deal, his smooth tenor ringing out with confidence. His charismatic stage presence and sharp tailoring gave the crowd a moment of celebration, and the performance struck a chord with the young and seasoned alike.
